Bristol North West MP to rebuild Britain for the new generations

By Yoyi Clark  Wednesday Sep 25, 2024

Speaking at the Labour Party conference that took place on Sunday, September 22,  Darren Jones, chief secretary to the Treasury and MP for Bristol Northwest, spoke about helping to provide the people of Britain with “Generational opportunities for working people like you and me.”

With aims to govern for the next 25 years, Jones wants Labour to become “the natural party of government”, wishing to disassociate the title with the Conservative party and unite it with Labour.

“We have the chance to prove that we are the changemakers. That our changed Labour Party can be trusted to govern.

“That together, as a united Labour Party, we can deliver for Britain.”

Jones who is responsible for the public expenditure of the Labour Party, says he sees his job as “one of the hardest jobs in government.”

Identifying that “working people paid the price” for the issues created by the Conservatives, Jones reflects that the Conservative Party “crashed the economy” and “lied to the public.”

The chief secretary to the Treasury confidently described his aims to fix the UK economy and provide greater opportunities for individuals.

Jones optimistically sees these problems as providing a chance for change. His plans, with the aid of the Labour Party cabinet include delivering “a more productive, future facing economy – a better future for families across the country.

“High performing, personalised public services, not least to transform our National Health Service.” and “A new Britain, fit for the 21st century”.

Concluding with the promise of reform, “Let us remember that this is our moment, because it is our Labour movement that gives people like you and me, families like mine and yours, that great opportunity to achieve more together than we do alone.”
