Balloon Fiesta needs support to continue

By Martin Booth  Monday Aug 12, 2024

For more than four decades, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta has been a free event.

But after the conclusion of the latest Fiesta, its organisers are stressing that to protect its future, it needs support.

Anyone who donates before September 9 will be entered into a prize draw to win a balloon flight for two.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Fiesta executive director, Ben Hardy, said: “This year has been truly spectacular and has hopefully created memories that will last a lifetime for hundreds of thousands.

“Being able to bring almost 200 balloons to the skies of Bristol, and to bring the community together is exactly why the Fiesta was set up all those years ago in 1979.

“The last few years have been tough for the event, and as we approach our 50th anniversary we are asking once again for the support of those who love the Fiesta and want to see it continue.

“If you have enjoyed the event as a visitor, marvelled at one of the ascents from a local park or your back garden, we very kindly ask you to make a donation, however small and whatever possible, so we can continue to put this incredible event on for you and the city of Bristol.”
