Arms manufacturing facility targeted by proscribed group reportedly shut
An arms manufacturing facility near Bristol, frequently targeted by now-proscribed group Palestine Action, has reportedly shut down its operations.
The site of Elbit Systems UK in Aztec West was said to be deserted when reporters from The Guardian visited it before Saturday.
Activists from Palestine Action often blocked the facility’s entrance, including a blockade on July 1, days before the group was banned under the Terrorism Act.
is needed now More than ever
An extension of one of Israel’s top manufacturers, Elbit Systems, the facility has been criticised by the direct action group for its role in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
On their website, Elbit Systems UK defines itself as an “innovative defence technology company”, employing over 680 employees across 16 sites in the UK.
After its proscription, hundreds across the country have been arrested for showing their support for Palestine Action, including an 83-year-old priest from Bristol.
Bristol24/7 has contacted Elbit Systems UK for a comment.
