Advert moves six-year-old boy to charity ride
A six-year-old boy pledged to cycle to Bath to raise money for WaterAid after being moved by the charity’s TV campaign.
Zach Worlock, from Oldham Common, will cycle 18 along down the Bristol to Bath Railway Path and back.
“At first he wanted to give his pocket money to the children on the TV,” His mother Jessica, 34, said. “But we suggested a sponsored activity. So he decided on a bike ride to Bath.”
is needed now More than ever
Zach, who is a pupil at St Anne’s school, will ride his own ‘Tour de Bath’ with his father on August 1, six days after proceedings were wrapped up in Paris.
His mum Jessica and older brother Noah, 8, will act as the support team, meeting them at points along the way to provide drinks and snacks.
They will set off from Oldham Station, cycling first to Bath Abbey, turning round and cycling back, finishing in Warmley.
“They said he can have a free ice cream if he makes it up to Warmley Waiting Room, so that’s where he’s going to finish,” Jessica said.

Through an online fundraising page Zach has already raised more than £500 – far above their original target.
“Our aim was £100, but it’s surpassed anything we’d thought. He’s really excited, bless him. He’s counting down the days,” Jessica said.
She added that Zach is already planning his next activity – a mini-triathlon.
