LA LA LAND: Catch the feelgood film that had everyone talking at the Golden Globes, as it opens in cinemas today. Various cinemas and times, rated 12A.

NATIONAL THEATRE ENCORE: NO MAN’S LAND: Another chance to see a screening of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen’s glittering live performance.  Various cinemas, 7pm, rated 15.

 

THE LOVE OF THE NIGHTINGALE: Bristol Old Vic Young Company present this fierce and modern interpretation of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s play, shifting the action in time and space to a modern-day nightclub. Bierkeller, 7.30pm, £12/£8 concs.

PHOENIX RIVER BAND & MORE: The Bristol Acoustic Music Festival takes a hiatus this year, but two acoustic nights (the second is tomorrow at the Louisiana) will tide us over until 2018. Thunderbolt, £7/one night or £12/both nights.

BRISTOL YOUNG PROFESSIONALS: An informal networking event for those those working in different occupations. The Boardroom, 6pm.
