Bristol Charity Advent Calendar – day 24
Homeless charity Caring in Bristol‘s annual project Caring at Christmas provides safe accommodation, food and social activities to homeless and vulnerable people between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.
Caring at Christmas has been running for almost 30 years and has helped thousands of people over that period.
Last year the project welcomed around 250 people each day, providing 70 beds and serving 4,581 hot meals over 11 days. This was made possible by 1000 people volunteering their time and donating.

For Christmas 2016, the charity is looking for financial donations and for people over 18 years old who would like to volunteer for at least two shifts at the shelter during the Caring at Christmas opening times.
Volunteers can choose to be ‘guest-facing’, where they interact with the people staying at the shelter, and do things like chat, play board games, help with the laundry and provide some support.
There is also a ‘non-guest-facing’ option for volunteers helping in the kitchen or with other duties.
The charity are also looking for donations to help them buy the relevant food, clothes and other supplies that they need to keep running.
– To volunteer, fill out an online application form
