Bristol Charity Advent Calendar – day 23
1625 Independent People provide housing, life skills, confidence building, training, education and fun to homeless young people.
Figures have shown that there are 83,000 young people that face homelessness every year – and half of all people facing homelessness are under 25.
1625ip tackles this problem in Bristol by providing housing and support to young people aged 16 to 25.
Their supported housing provides 190 bed spaces in shared houses and self-contained flats around Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
They also run two 24-hour staffed, live-in services in Bristol, providing 76 beds in total, and have floating support teams helping with the prevention of homelessness and resettling of young people.
Among their many projects, ‘Future 4 me’ was crowned the National Lottery Best Voluntary/Charity Project 2015, offering support to young people leaving custody and leaving care.
