Bristol Charity Advent Calendar – day 12
Vashti Seth was left £2000 and a note from her father that said ‘do something good’, so she set up the UK’s first micro-loan crowdfunding charity Deki.
Based in Stokes Croft, Deki now helps provide African entrepreneurs living in poverty with a loan to set up their own business. This helps to ensure that training people in developing countries can work their way out of poverty, rather than accepting handouts.
You choose who you want to invest in, £10 is the minimum and then it gets repaid back into your account bit by bit by the person who it has been lent to.
You then choose whether to reinvest the money, or withdraw it from your Deki account.
You can invest online through www.deki.org.uk and see how your money can change lives.
Every day during Advent, Bristol24/7 will be focusing on a Bristol charity that you can support. If you want to see a charity featured, please email [email protected]
