Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2024, day 19: Bristol Dementia Action Alliance
Bristol Dementia Action Alliance works to enable Bristol to become a “dementia aware community”.
The charity celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2023, with a continued belief that people with dementia have the right to a good quality of life and to remain independent.
“We believe that people with dementia have the right to live well, engage in and contribute to their local communities as long as they wish to do so.”
One way that BDAA educates about dementia is by providing free dementia awareness sessions for businesses, organisations and groups.
Dementia awareness workshops are for those working with, or wanting to work with, carers and people with dementia.
Happy Days Memory Cafes take place in Westbury-on-Trym, Shirehampton, Avonmouth and Sea Mills.
And BDAA run monthly Carers Cuppa events for carers to connect over a cuppa, share stories and gain support from each other.
