Support local artists and help save Co-LAB

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Dec 8, 2016

More than just a shop, Co-LAB in Broadmead provides a platform for Bristol artists, giving them an opportunity to make a living from their work.

“Co-LAB is a celebration of the creativity and individuality that Bristol has to offer,” says founder and owner Simone Kidner.

“Proudly independent, we are a diamond in the rough corporate landscape that is Broadmead.”

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Due to rising rents, Co-LAB is being forced to move and will have to relocate in the new year – but only to a space (albeit smaller) just three doors down.

A crowdfunding campaign has now been launched to help secure Co-LAB’s future:

“The news was devastating for us, the idea of closing was too much,” says Simone.

“So we’re acting quickly and looking for your support to make sure Co-LAB is here for the long-term. We know that many people will be shocked at this news, as many of our customers have grown very attached to our shop.”

Simone believes that Co-LAB “has started to change the way people perceive Broadmead, with news announced on the same day as Co-LAB’s crowdfunding campaign is launched of new…

“We attract a range of shoppers into the centre who wouldn’t normally come here and we do it bringing local talent to the foreground of people’s attention,” adds Simone.

“It would be a huge loss for the hundreds of local creatives we stock and for Bristol’s creative scene if we were unable to continue.”

In their new building, Co-LAB will continue to sell locally made products.

But the cost of a new lease, a complete shop refit and the move is more than Co-LAB can afford alone, with the crowdfunding campain looking to raise £5,000 to cover legal fees, complete a total shop refit and cover the costs incurred with moving 150 artists’ stock to their new shop.
