Christmas wish list no.4

By Sally Telford  Friday Dec 12, 2014

If you know your teenager well you will have an itemised, very specific list in your hand. Sorted

If not the best suggestion would be money, given the choice that is really what they want, but if you insist on a present find out their favourite shop be it Topshop or Hollister and go there; pick something out or get a gift voucher. Perfume and aftershave are a good shout, if you go a little more high-end than they can afford they’ll be very happy. The winning gift for most boys would be a game for whatever games console they have; there’s always a big launch right before Christmas.

If not here are some suggestions, they can be tricky customers…

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Girls:
1. iTunes voucher (or equivalent), do not try and buy them music you will probably get it wrong

2. Go to Topshop, buy almost anything. Make up is always a winner, clothes just get a gift receipt so they can change it if they hate it – and get their size right!

3. Jewellery, go sparkly or go cool. Diana Porter on Park Street will have something special for any

4. Perfume, if you really want to impress buy them something grown up, something a little more expensive than they would buy. Do not buy a ‘celebrity’ scent.

5. 1990s style backpacks are everywhere right now and you can bet most teenage girls will have one. Go a little out there, this one is from Whistles and a serious treat but try Fox and Feather on Gloucester Road or Cara on Park Street.

6. A cute pouch, this may be a safe gift but fill it with some little treats and this will be very much appreciated

Boys:

  1. A cool hoodie. Find out their go to shop and buy them a cosy hoodie. It may not sound like the most exciting gift but it will be appreciated
  2. Headphones, go as high spec as you can and tell them about the sound quality. They will pretend not to care.
  3. Trainers, a dangerous suggestion as it could go so wrong. Ask them which ones or get Air Force Ones; always crisp.
  4. If your teenager is a Bristol boy they are most likely into skateboarding. Go to FiftyFifty at the bottom of Park Street and the awesome staff will sort you out.
  5. As for the girls, buy them something sophisticated and grown up. Hugo Boss is a good choice.
  6. A game. What console do they have? I know they have one. You will always win with this choice.
  7. Backpacks again. Vans, Eastpack, Nike – keep it simple.
