Citywide sauna trail coming soon to Bristol
A new trail hopes to welcome people into the burgeoning sauna scene in Bristol.
Bristol Sauna Trail is aimed at both sauna enthusiasts and the “sauna-curious” to come and try out up to a dozen saunas across the city and its outskirts over the course of a single day.
Organisers, including Johnny Palmer, owner of Warleigh Weir, said they want to help people feel healthy, mentally and physically, encourage community and raise money for men’s mental health.
All income from ticket sales will go to charity Ice Breakers, a growing network of men’s cold-water communities that holds twice-weekly sessions on the River Avon.
It follows a wave of saunas opening in alternative spaces in the city, from a city farm to a recent pop-up on the Floating Harbour.

One sauna taking part is Bristol Community Sauna which is based at the back of St Anne’s House
“Whether you are a sauna purist, experienced practitioner, or simply sauna-curious, you are invited to visit as many saunas as you can for this one extraordinary day,” reads Bristol Sauna Trail’s official website.
“Experience the healing power of heat, the invigorating cold plunge, and the sense of community that makes sauna culture so special.
“This is your chance to explore Bristol’s finest sauna spaces in a single, unforgettable journey.”
Participating saunas include Ardagh Sauna in Horfield, Bristol Community Sauna in Brislington, Bristol Wild Sauna in Fishponds, Fire & Ice Wellness in Westbury Wildlife Park, Orchard Sauna in Windmill Hill City Far and Sensate Spa & Studios in Henleaze, among others.

Palmer said: “The sauna movement in Bristol has taken off in the last few years.
“Many cultures throughout the world have had traditions and rituals around heat therapy going back thousands of years, but Britain has only just caught on.”
“Sauna is a great way to bring people together to share joy, connection and overcome challenges.
“The mental and physical health benefits are well known, and we are still learning more about how sauna helps people.”
“Bristol has a great track record of collaborative working, and this trail is an extension of that approach into the sauna space.”
Bristol Sauna Trail takes place on January 17, with tickets costing £30 that give participants access to all ten participating saunas between 10am and 6pm. For more information, visit saunatrail.co.uk
