Strong foundations at Badminton School

By Caitlin Bowring  Monday Dec 7, 2020

At Badminton Junior School, pupils learn through play with child-centred activities and Forest School.

Forest School allows children to be in a natural environment in all weathers, learn how to care for the environment and explore freely. Activities include building fires, campfire songs, mud painting, digging for worms and bravery awards.

“Our task, within our Early Years at Badminton is to help our youngest children get excited about learning and achieving,” says Rachel Jones, head of EYFS at Badminton Junior School.

“We aim to provide the very best foundation where our children can discover, challenge themselves and develop an enquiring mind through laughter and having fun. Our oak tree logo from Little Acorns inspires us as staff to provide deep-rooted support to our children’s future learning.”

A recent statement from the Duchess of Cambridge has highlighted how early childhood shapes later life. “Early years is a precious time to nurture young minds and help children’s futures,” she says.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Goals at Badminton School aim to prepare children well for formal education, which begins in year one.
