Historic Bedminster building to be transformed into gym

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Jul 25, 2018

It was originally the theatre for staff at the Wills tobacco factory and later became an art gallery.

Now a historic building on Bedminster Parade will be transformed into a gym by an athlete who holds the distinction of being one of a very select group who have represented Great Britain at both the summer and winter Olympics.

The Grade II listed building close to Asda is set to become Luxe Fitness Club, promising to provide the latest equipment and up to 100 different fitness classes.

Work has now started on the redevelopment of the Victorian building, with the gym set to to open its doors in the autumn.

It is being opened by Allyn Condon, who competed in the 4×100 m relay team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and in the four-man bobsleigh team at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010.

Condon said: “The 24/7 facility will be a valuable asset for another of Bristol’s up and coming communities.

“The whole ethos of the new Luxe Fitness Club will be, as its name suggests, to provide all the latest high quality high-tech equipment, together with up to 100 classes in luxurious surroundings.”
