Former England cricket captain joins parkrun wellbeing initiative
Former England cricket captain Heather Knight surprised participants at her local parkrun near Bristol as she showed her support for a new health initiative called Talk in the Park.
The initiative is calling on people to boost their mental and physical wellbeing by walking at their local parkrun every week.
A special ‘Let’s Walk Day’ will be held on April 26, aiming to bring together the largest number of parkrun walkers across the country.
is needed now More than ever
Vitality ambassador Knight, who captained England’s cricket team for nine years, attended the Somerdale Pavilion parkrun in Keynsham, which has the nickname of the curly wurly parkrun due to its unusual corkscrew course.
Knight said: “From my own experience I know that regular activity does wonders for my mental and physical wellbeing.
“Just a simple walk in the park with a friend can benefit your health, which is why I’m here today to encourage everyone to get moving and meet and talk with new people.”
