Stokes Croft takeover for a series of family events
Stokes Croft is to come alive with food stalls, music and dance for families, following the success of Stokes Croft Calling.
Stokes Croft Family Days will be a series of offers and events in and around the area, starting this Spring half term holiday on June 1.
Organised by Compass Presents, the initiative aims to attract more visitors to the centre and boost local businesses and economy.
is needed now More than ever
The project has been created in partnership with businesses in and around Cheltenham Road, as well as local residents.
All of the artists and creative team have direct links to Stokes Croft, either historical or current.
In a similar style to block parties held locally, this celebration will see the participations of venues such as the PRSC, Biblos, BIMM and 51 Stokes Croft.
Event organisers have said: “For those of you that missed the Stokes Croft Calling final show event last November now’s your chance”.

A perfect way to keep kids busy for a moment’s respite
It has been announced that the day will kick off with a repeat of the audience participation Capoeira event, at BIMM Bristol.
They will also be hosting a digital exhibition showcasing children’s artwork, which families can get involved ahead of the event by emailing their child’s artwork to Compass Presents.
There will also be a chance to encounter escapees from Banksy’s Mild Mild West Graffitti, beautifully brought to life in a performance featuring riot police and a molotov-wielding teddy bear.
A heritage walk will also be taking place, led by artist Kabbo Hue, to help deepen the understanding of the contributions made to the area by African and Caribbean cultures.
The founder of Compass Presents, Tara Sachdeva, said: “It’s been wonderful to have the opportunity to deepen our work with local residents and businesses and work together to think up initiatives that will keep bringing families back to the area.
“I think everyone can see the mutual benefits of local residents and their children participating more fully in the rich tapestry that is the Croft.”
This event is the first one like it to ever take place and the community hopes it won’t be the last.
The doors officially open up at midday and close at 4pm.
