Experience Awe-tumn at Westonbirt, The National Arboretum
The days have shortened, the leaves are turning colour and there is a crisp chill in the air; autumn is here! The trees have taken on the rich red, yellow and orange hues of autumn.
There’s no better way to enjoy nature’s most vibrant season than by going down to the woods at Westonbirt Arboretum, one of the world’s most beautiful woodland gardens, only 40 miles from Bristol, and experiencing their world famous awe-tumn spectacle!
With some of the world’s most beautiful, rare and extraordinary trees around every corner this is the place to see autumn at its most awesome!
1. Take a walk amongst the treetops on the STIHL Treetop Walkway and discover the hidden world of the tree canopy.
2. Head up to Acer Glade and Maple Loop to encounter the world-famous collection of maple trees that form the centre of their incredible autumn colour show.
3. For the truly fearless amongst you, set off on a quest through the deep dark Gruffalo Wood and see if you can spot some of your favourite characters from the beloved children’s story. After all there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo…
4. Discover more about the history of the arboretum and how Westonbirt’s Victorian founders and modern-day tree team have worked over the centuries to ensure that around every corner there is the perfect photo opportunity every time along our Picture Perfect trail.
5. Set out on the Natural Play Trail through the trees and brush up your den building, log balancing and troll bridge crossing skills!
And after all that, you can also stop for tea and cake in the restaurant (outdoor seating only) or pick up a souvenir in the shop to remind you of your visit.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, entrance to the National Arboretum is by advance booking only; when booking your tickets you will be asked to select an entrance time slot.

The arboretum is open 9am – 5pm every-day; last entry is at 4:30pm.
Ticket prices are:
Adult – £11 or £15 from 3 October to 1 November
Students and job seekers – £7 or £10 from 3 October to 1 November
Child (5 – 18 years) – £4 (under 5s go free)
