Can You Still Go Offline Without Missing Out?

By Advertising Feature  Friday Jul 18, 2025

Can you still go offline without missing out? This question can feel more relevant now than ever. And no wonder, since we are living in a digital age, where even living a few hours without a phone might sound impossible. This is because then we would fall behind on different aspects like news, group chats, trends, or that one thing that your friend posted that everyone is talking about. But behind all this frustration and anxiety is a deeper truth: we are not just using the internet to work or scroll aimlessly; we also use it to live.

For many people, being online is where they actually connect with others. Some like to send memes to group chats, while others like to watch documentaries or play casual mobile games to unwind. Some of us even spend evenings and holidays relaxing by playing online blackjack or other online casino games on secure options like platforms that are located offshore. And because of all this, going offline might feel like stepping away from your entire social and entertainment ecosystem.

And yet, despite all the benefits, there is always a creeping sense or voice saying that we are too connected to the digital world. And it’s no surprise, since too much screen time does chip away at attention spans, sleep time, and our ability to just sit still and think. This is where the whole idea of a digital detox enters the scene. In these kinds of situations, digital detox, which can, for example, be a weekend without screens, is seen as a cure. But to be completely factual, for most people, this kind of detox isn’t realistic or even necessary.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

The real challenge isn’t about disconnecting and leaving the digital world behind for a while—it’s about learning how to balance life. By learning this, you can wander in the digital world while still feeling grounded in the real one. So, instead of just trying to get rid of devices, try to look at how you use them. For example, are you scrolling just to fill time, or are you actually enjoying what you are doing? Do you feel better or worse after your screen time? Are you doomscrolling at night and losing sleep? Are you perhaps reading the news or watching a show that brings you joy?

Now to get back to the original question: yes, you can absolutely go offline without missing out; just be sure to redefine what “missing out” actually means. While you might miss a few TikToks or headlines, you might also gain better sleep, improved focus, and moments of peace that used to be entirely rare. And just like we explained above, you don’t need to quit the digital world entirely to get these benefits. Just muting your notifications and setting screen time limits can be the solution.

So, don’t look at the digital world as an enemy; look at it as a tool. And on top of it being a tool, it can also be a source of art, entertainment, connection, and even comfort. To get the most out of it, you must know how to balance it to be meaningful and even healthy.
