A-Z Bristol Pub Crawl: No. 1 Harbourside, Canon’s Road
Faint reggae plays underneath the chatter at No. 1 Harbourside on a Wednesday evening.
It’s early – 6.30pm – but the bar is packed. Colleagues catch up after work with a pint, a mother and daughter share a Buttermilk chicken burger and three sisters play Uno at the large table, raised on a platform, close to the toilets.
One man sits alone, on a raised stool, scrolling through his phone while he polishes off a pint.
is needed now More than ever
Every ten minutes someone new enters, scoping out which table which might soon become free.

There are lots of local brews on offer at No. 1 Harbourside
Although we’re all adults tonight, it’s clear families are welcome, with the kids play area overflowing with games from Monopoly and Rummikub to Skribble (yes, Skribble).
If you follow the bar on Instagram they’ll give you a free shot.
Some are here for the booze (there are lots of local brews on offer) but some are here for the food too and the food is very, very good.
Six different options if you fancy a burger (from tempeh to pulled pork), four types of ‘loaded fries’ and sweet waffles available all day every day? No wonder the crowd here is so upbeat.

Dogs are welcome, people are tolerated
Every so often, above the reggae and the chat, a loud laughter, and sometimes a chuckle, can be heard from different corners of the pub.
On occasion the reggae melds with top 40 hits. Some Afrobeats come into the mix. Whoever’s in charge of the playlist is clearly, to paraphrase Shallipopi, the minister of enjoyment.
