A-Z Bristol Pub Crawl: The Pickled Parrot, St George
If your mates decided one day that they’d had enough of beer-drenched carpets, the pay-to-play pool table and the slightly rotten aftertaste of a beer whose line hasn’t been cleaned in months, the Pickled Parrot would be the place they opened.
Not a man-cave-type bar but practical and no-frills nonetheless.
Numerous blackboards listing the latest on-tap offerings dot the bar like an unfinished mosaic, pulling your eyes in different directions as the bartender looks at you – hopeful you’ll make a swift and decisive choice.
is needed now More than ever
Luckily, unlike most craft beer pubs that leave many a drinker bamboozled and overwhelmed by the options, this micropub limits its offerings to just seven ales and beers on tap.
Seven South West beers and ales it should be noted to those that care.

On this evening, it appears the commuters who so frequently stop off at their local watering hole decided to actually go straight home from work.
The tables all look to be handmade, simple but with an unpolished rugged edge.
The seating too – used kegs with cushions on top – is far too high for the tables, giving you the feeling that you’re sitting at a child’s table.
A red minivan pulls up with the newest delivery.
The bartender and delivery driver awkwardly wrangle the news supply of nectar in.
Keg in hand, suspended just above the ground, the sole bartender quickly ponders where to stick them.
He quickly sits it down and chucks a seat cover over it.
Local artists’ work hangs on the walls, waiting to be taken down and hung inside someone’s home.

Local artwork it fitted to wall
For a room said to fit only 30 people, on this warm Thursday evening occupying this space is but a few friends and a couple.
As well as a pair of Dachshunds – the newest ‘it’ dog, judging by how many are about – courting attention from multiple adoring passers-by.
