A-Z Bristol Pub Crawl: The Hartcliffe Inn, Hartcliffe
It’s a late afternoon in Hartcliffe and the pub is empty until, one by one, regulars start dropping in.
They’re tradesmen – plasterers, carpenters, plumbers – and soon start gathering around a large table in the corner, chatting about work, football, mutual friends, politics and everything in between.
The table is by a large fireplace, ornamented by framed photos of those the community have lost and a large flag saying ‘The Hartcliffe Inn: Home of De-Veys FC 1923’. The reserves team won 3-1 last weekend, as one man at the bar recounts with a grin.
is needed now More than ever
No-one is watching Tipping Point on the large telly in the corner, nor are they having a go on one of the three slot machines.

A big white bulldog starts sniffing around unfamiliar punters.
His owner drags him back, only for him to bolt out again.
A red stuffed monkey sits just below the ceiling, watching as two of the younger men peel away from the group and start playing pool.

The pub is well-known among locals for being the home of football club De-Veys FC
