Wild Beer’s wildly successful crowdfunding
A Somerset brewery with close links to Bristol has hit more than two-thirds of its crowdfunding target of one million pounds in less than one day.
Wild Beer, which was founded in 2012 by two former employees of Bristol Beer Factory and has a bar in Wapping Wharf, now exports to 22 countries across the world from their brewery in Evercreech.
“This isn’t just about beer, it’s about challenging perceptions, creating a movement and battling against a tradition that says only pints are beautiful and quantity is more important than quality,” say co-founders Brett Ellis and Andrew Cooper.
is needed now More than ever
With the money raised by the crowdfunding, they hope to:
– build a new, state of the art brewery
– develop their current brewery, to enable them to lead the barrel ageing and wild beer category in the UK
– develop their growing bar and restaurant business
Wild Beer’s new building will be a 50,000 square foot, 12,000,000 l/yr capacity, destination brewery at the Bath & West Showground near Shepton Mallet.
Brett and Andrew added: “Our aim is to stay at the forefront of the UK wild fermentation and barrel-ageing beer scene and enable us to continue growing our business, and the industry for many years.”
