Three Bristol bakeries named among top-50 in UK
A trio of brilliant Bristol bakeries have received national recognition.
The three bakeries feature in the Good Food Guide’s 50 best bakeries 2026 which “celebrates artisans rewriting the rulebook”.
“Want to get a flavour of Britain’s best bites? Our advice: head to a bakery,” say the Good Food Guide team.
“From a makeshift industrial unit in Devon to a radically remote destination in the Scottish Highlands and a must-visit spot in mid-Wales, these 50 top spots source locally, celebrate the seasons and rival the pastry work of many of Britain’s top restaurant kitchens.
“The best part is, you can enjoy the fruit of their labour for a fraction of the cost. You’ll just have to join the queue.”
The Bristol bakeries included in the top-50 are Hart’s Bakery at Temple Meads; Farro on Bond Street; and the roving Hilda – who can be found outside the former St John’s Church on Whiteladies Road in Clifton on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Clouds on Mina Road in St Werburgh’s on Saturdays, and outside Cor on North Street in Bedminster on the second Sunday of each month.
If you fancy a short trip from Temple Meads (after visiting Hart’s of course), Landrace on Walcot Street in Bath and Rye Bakery in Frome have also made the list.

Writing on Instagram, the team at Hart’s said: “So proud to be part of @GoodFoodGuideUK list of the top 50 bakeries in the UK.
“It’s a true honour to be among so many wonderful and talented bakeries.”
The Good Food Guide describes Hart’s as “handy for a classy train snack to go… (and) also a hugely popular destination in its own right”, saving particular praise for their toasties and cinnamon buns.

Hilda founder Will Prosser said: “Humbled to be alongside so many incredible bakeries who have been a huge inspiration to me.
“Thank you the Good Food Guide. And thanks to everyone who continues to support Hilda.”
Hilda is a “small but mighty bakery on wheels” according to the Good Food Guide, with the van drawing “a devoted community around it wherever it parks up”.
“There’s no bread here, just pastries and very good coffee, but what pastries they are: laminated tarts piled with seasonal fillings such as roasted cherries and bay-leaf custard are visual works of art and fabulously delicious too.”

Focusing on Farro, the Good Food Guide citation says the bakery “puts the focus on ancient grains; the owners mill their own in-house and produce an einkorn wheat loaf with an incredible depth of flavour”.
“Best pastries are probably the honey and almond croissant, the pastel de nata, and the totally ‘unmissable’ canelé.
“So often, bakeries lose that element of quality by branching out into sandwiches and the like. Not here. All they do is bake bread and pastries to wonderful perfection.”
