Pub reopens in time for Easter weekend
Regulars have been reacquainting themselves with a pub that has reopened after being closed for almost a year.
After closing in June 2024, the Lion in Cliftonwood had metal shutters installed on its windows and doors prompting questions over its future as a watering hole.
But the pub on Church Lane has now been reopened by Ben Jones, with lunch being served on Easter Sunday.
is needed now More than ever
After a soft opening, the Lion is now scheduled to open from Friday to Sunday but was also open on Thursday to mark the beginning of the Easter bank holiday weekend.

In an email to people on the pub’s mailing list, Jones wrote: “My offer still stands, you are welcome to bring your own food, order Deliveroo/takeaway pizza, curry etc until I have the pop-up kitchens running.
“And again, an ‘ask’ from me. If you have a favourite restaurant that operates as a pop-up, please let me know so I can contact them.”
