Neighbourhood’s last remaining pub to be sold

By Rafe Llewellyn  Wednesday Aug 20, 2025

The final pub just about standing in Lawrence Weston is for sale.

Having opened in the 1950s, the Giant Goram was a key part of the community until it closed in 2019. Targeted by developers since the closure, proposed plans have included housing with a micropub and a meditation centre.

In March, a planning application was made to redevelop the land into shops but this was also rejected by councillors on the planning committee.

Vandals have targeted the pub building, which is currently in disrepair and fenced off from the road.

The pub’s name refers to the name of one of two legendary giants, named Goram and Vincent, who shaped the landscape of the Avon Gorge.

The Giant Goram has now gone on sale for £281,000 with estate agents Sidney & Phillips.
