CUPP to open new concept store in Bristol

By Martin Booth  Sunday Mar 15, 2026

Bristol’s newest CUPP promises to be “a cafe-style concept celebrating the drink at the heart of bubble tea: classic milk tea”.

The new cafe due to open on Penn Street in April will replace the shipping container only a few hundred yards away in Quakers Friars.

CUPP was founded in Bristol in 2012 and now has more than 30 locations across the UK.

A spokesperson said: “CUPP helped introduce authentic Taiwanese boba to the UK and has since grown into one of the country’s leading specialist drinks brands.

“The new concept returns the brand to its roots, celebrating both the origins of bubble tea and CUPP’s origins in Bristol.

“The new store transforms CUPP from a grab-and-go container into a 35-seat cafe destination, designed for customers to sit, stay and experience the full CUPP menu.”

The menu at the new cafe – which is even said to be “inspired by the colour and warmth of milk tea” – will include boba alongside matcha and specialist matcha drinks, coffee, Asian-inspired food, including rice bowls and Taiwanese-style chicken, and Taiwan-style French toast.
