Conditions for ‘perfect pint’ revealed
As the summer slowly sets in, a family-run cider maker has revealed the “perfect conditions” for a pint.
Thatchers Cider has unveiled the findings on what makes the ideal pint. Is it the time of day? The temperature? Or perhaps it’s the company you keep while sipping a pint? These and many other questions were at the heart of this survey.
The survey, conducted by Censuswide and carried out by members of the Market Research Society, gathered responses from around the country.

Both Gen Z and Millennials said that the best company for enjoying a pint is with friends
But does the company you keep impact the enjoyment of your pint? According to the survey, it certainly does.
Gen Z (aged 18–27) and Millennials (28–43) both said that the best company for enjoying a pint is with friends, with 38 per cent and 41 per cent respectively selecting this option.
Just over 30 per cent of Gen X (44–59) and Boomers (60–78) preferred to enjoy their pint with a partner.
When it comes to food pairings, pizza was the top choice, with 19 per cent of respondents opting for it, followed by crisps and fish and chips. Surprisingly, roast dinners and curries placed seventh and ninth in terms of preference.
In terms of perfect place for a pint, pub garden beat inside the pub with a comfortable margin (41 per cent v 26 per cent)

The cider maker behind Juicy Apple is Eleanor Thatcher, the fifth generation of the Thatcher family to carry on the tradition
The survey also revealed an interesting trend among Londoners. One in 20 Londoners claimed that a shower is the perfect place to enjoy a pint – a rather unusual but intriguing finding.
With British summer time in force, Eleanor Thatcher, fifth-generation cider maker behind the juicy apple cider, shared her thoughts on the findings.
Eleanor said: “We pride ourselves on crafting perfection into every drop of Thatchers cider. Whatever generation you are, it’s great to see that we all agree on one thing: the best way to drink cider is surrounded by the people you love, whether that’s Gen Z with their friends, or Gen X with their partners.”
“We also believe there’s a cider for everyone – from the classic Thatchers Gold to our latest offering, Thatchers Juicy Apple, which is powered by sunshine, made using the juiciest, sun-drenched apples, and 100 per cent renewable electricity, making it as good for the environment as it tastes in the glass.”
Thatchers Juicy Apple was launched in 2024 and is produced using 100 per cent renewable electricity.

According to the survey, the perfect time to sip a pint is 17.25
