Bristol coffee map published

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Sep 30, 2014

If reading this very website wasn’t enough, you’ll never be at a loss to find your nearest coffee shop in Bristol with the publication of a new map.

Screen-printed in silver ink on dark brown paper actually made from coffee, and then over-printed in turquoise, it is a beautiful publication, designed by Redcliffe’s Studio Baum with illustrations by Naomi Wilkinson.

It features 24 cafes from Bedminster to Easton, with a pithy write-up for each and a Top Trumps-style selection of amenities.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

So while many have filter coffee, only one has a theatre next door (Mark’s Bread CafeMark’s Bread Cafe), only one can be found inside a laundrette (At The WellAt The Well) and only one offers bicycle repairs (Roll for the SoulRoll for the Soul).

There are a few strange omissions, with only one chain, Boston Tea Party (just the Park Street branch), but no Lashings or Grounded.

Spicer & Cole’s original Queen Square Avenue cafe is ignored, but its younger Clifton Village sibling is included, and BrewBrew opened too recently to be on this year’s map.

The publication may be beautiful, but it’s not exactly functional. You need a very big pocket to call it pocket-size, and the map itself – although looking lovely – is not the easiest to navigate, which somewhat defeats the object of a map.

For £2, it’s the price of a coffee in most of the establishments where it can be found.

These establishments include Full Court PressFull Court Press on Broad Street which now has a brand new downstairs seating area just over four months since a burst water main deposited five and a feet of muddy water in their basement.
