Laura began her career at 18, working as a chef as part of an apprenticeship at City of Bristol College.
She then worked in the Bristol Hotel on Prince Street, achieving a level three NVQ, a diploma in professional cookery.
After that, Laura moved to New York for three years, which is where she learnt how to make pizzas.
Arriving back to the UK in 2019, she brought her pizza expertise to her home city. But it wasn’t long before she was placed on furlough due to the pandemic, so she decided to start a pizza business from home.
“My mum was delivering them, my sister was helping me out in the kitchen and it gradually grew,” Laura, 30, told Bristol24/7 on a recent afternoon.
“It was very organic which was really nice.”

After two years of cooking her pizzas at home, Laura was able to open up her own space on Merton Road, not far from Gloucester Road.
She specialises in Neapolitan pizzas, with her own creations slowly fermented for a minimum of 24 hours, using San Marzano tomatoes and Fior di Latte Mozzarella.
Laura’s Pizzas now serve a range of authentic Neapolitan pizzas, including gluten-free bases. They also offer sides such as arancini and sweet treats like Tiramisu.
“We’ve still got that place, that’s been going strong for the last three years now, and then we’ve just opened up in Totterdown, so opposite side of Bristol now,” Laura added.
What sets her pizzas apart, Laura told us, is the attention to detail: “You can taste how much effort we put in.”
In Ashley Down, Laura’s Pizzas was limited within a small delivery area but now with the new addition of the new premises in Totterdown, Laura and her team are able to distribute their pizzas all across Bristol.
“Everyone’s been super welcoming and excited about us being here,” Laura added.
When asked if she is planning on expanding outside of Bristol, Laura said “never say never, but one step at a time”.

Laura’s win at the Uber Eats awards makes it clear that her business is doing something different, going above and beyond on quality.
Award winners are recognised for their impact on the culinary industry and their local communities. Winners have to have led the way in sustainability, community empowerment and health-focused cuisine.
“It’s not just about churning out and about numbers, we genuinely care about what we do and care about the project and we care about our customers,” said Laura.
“I think that’s what sets us apart from some other places, it’s the effort that goes into it.”
Laura described how it felt great to be recognised: “I think it shows other women what can be achieved and I hope it also inspires them as well, because it is a great career.
“Hospitality is a lot of fun and it’s exciting, you can really progress in it, but you’ve just got take that step…
“I think it’s more the food and the team that makes the business successful.”
