Watershed to host Bristol 650 showcase and book launch
Bristol 650 is the year-long celebration, in 2023, of the 650th anniversary of Bristol becoming an independent county.
With support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Unlimited and Bristol’s BIDs (City Centre, Broadmead, and Redcliffe and Temple), the initiative has spanned multiple events, including summer’s Unicornfest – which culminated in a Farewell Festival at Propyard in September.
On October 18 at Watershed, an official Bristol 650 showcase is taking place, setting out the projects that have been taking place under the 650 umbrella.
From Tom Marshman’s studies of people growing up in the city under Section 28, to Ruth Myers’ illustrated atlas of local stories, and Kathryn Johnson’s exploration of the Sharples women in Bristol’s first art gallery, there is lots to discover.
The event will also feature the launch of a new collection of commissioned essays about Bristol’s future. All attendees will receive a free copy of the Bristol 650 book.
Bristol 650 Showcase and Book Launch is at Watershed on October 18 at 10am. The event is free but booking is required; tickets (limited to two per transaction) are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk.
