‘Well Done, Mummy Penguin’ brings Chris Haughton picture book to life on stage

By Sarski Anderson  Wednesday Oct 29, 2025

From Can’t Sit Still, the team behind the adaptation of Chris Haughton’s Oh No, George! a stage version of another beloved Haughton picture book will be coming to Circomedia in mid-November.

Well Done, Mummy Penguin is a heartwarming exploration of the family dynamics of penguins, and “an irresistible ode to family bonds and incredible parenting everywhere”.

The story follows Mummy Penguin as she ventures far and wide in a quest for food for Daddy and Little Penguin, encountering dangers along the way.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

For the stage, the narrative has been brought to life with a blend of “daring acrobatics, integrated sign language and heart-warming humour”, aimed at young audiences and their families.

Cat Boot is the artistic director of Can’t Sit Still, and a graduate and former teacher at Circomedia. “I’m delighted to be bringing this show back home”, she says.

Well Done, Mummy Penguin brings together all the things I love about live performance – ingenuity, heartwarming storytelling, irreverent humour and of course, circus!

“Circomedia supported our research and development period for this show back in 2023 so we can’t wait to share the final results with the audiences of Bristol and beyond.”
