Three-year arts project to take place across Bristol neighbourhoods

By Bristol24/7  Monday May 21, 2018

People from Lawrence Weston, Easton and Knowle West will be brought together to create new artworks as part of a three-year project by a team of international producers.

We Are Bristol is the latest project from In Between Time, who will be developing the ambitious programme in partnership with Knowle West Media Centre, Up Our Street and Ambition Lawrence Weston.

The new artistic work will be revealed alongside a programme of critical citywide debates with local, national and international audiences.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!

Helen Cole, In Between Time CEO and artistic director, said: “We believe in the power of art to create social change and through our strong partnerships We Are Bristol will celebrate Bristol’s rich myriad of voices to the city and beyond.”

Up Our Street manager Stacy Yelland added: “We are really looking forward to working with partners from across the city to bring exceptional live art to our neighbourhood. We bring people together to learn, network and discuss important issues and it will be interesting to bring artists into these conversations to add a new dimension.”

We Are Bristol builds on the long-term partnership with In Between Time, Knowle West Media Centre, Up Our Street and Ambition Lawrence Weston that began with 2015’s Night Walks with Teenagers by Mammalian Diving Reflex.

It continued in 2017 inviting 40 people from across Bristol to collaborate with New York theatre company 600 Highwaymen to create The Record, which premiered at the In Between Time festival in 2017.

We Are Bristol’s first project will bring Australian theatre company Back to Back Theatre to the city in July to create The Democratic Set, in which Bristolians will be invited to take part in a film of their city.
