Genderqueer-led Ding for Disco present: Britney’s Peers

By Sarski Anderson  Thursday Mar 9, 2023

Ding for Disco are an emerging female-identifying and genderqueer-led theatre company who met at university and bonded over a common love of laughing about “the hardest parts of life, and more specifically, womanhood”.

Making collaborative and self-devised work, their primary aesthetic is shot through with movement, comedy and clowning.

In all their projects, they are unapologetically unafraid of hitting the awkward extremes that can sometimes arise from honest storytelling.

Currently on tour with their 40 minute musical, dance and silliness spectacular Britney’s Peers, the company is coming to The Wardrobe Theatre on March 17-18.

“This show probably isn’t for your Nan,” they admit, “but we bet she’ll know EXACTLY what we’re talking about.”

It’s described as a noughties teen movie makeove revival of A Doll’s House, satirising the ‘global conservatorship’ that is female-presenting existence.

How much control do any of us really have over our health and bodies? Britney’s Peers speculates that maybe, we’re not so different from the global pop sensation after all.

Britney’s Peers is at The Wardrobe Theatre on March 17-18 at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at www.thewardrobetheatre.com. Follow @dingfordisco for further information and tour updates.
