Valentine’s Day track dedicated to those feeling ‘isolated and forgotten’
A music video released on Friday serves to tell the story of the isolation of domestic abuse.
Released on Valentine’s Day, it highlights the perspective of people feeling trapped and forgotten, and struggling to access help.
Produced by Phoebe Ashford, creator of the video docu-series on Bristol’s grassroots culture ‘The Sunset People’, the track features artist Teddy Good, a self-described introspective artist that blends refined flows with smooth melody.
is needed now More than ever
scared of you is the start of a body of work that the pair hope will create a safe environment for those experiencing relationship abuse and sexual violence to find ways to talk and access the support they need.
All the money the song raises will be donated to Next Link, a survivor-focused service that provides domestic and sexual violence support services in the South West.
“This video goes out to those who feels alone and can’t speak up, to anyone that feels isolated and forgotten,” Ashford told Bristol24/7.
“We wanted to create a short film that represented the isolation that often comes with those experiencing these issues and hope that people no longer feel alone in their struggle.
“Next Link provides a whole host of services from safe houses to community outreach services, providing a huge base for people to come and get support.”

Teddy Good expanded for Bristol24/7 on why they have targeted the romanticisation of the ‘day of love’ for their release.
“February 14 represents something very different to different people, so it made sense to dedicate at least one year to those who struggle around Valentine’s day,” he said. “In reflection of those experiencing these issues came this song, an acoustic track of the lonely places that people find themselves in.
“Scared of You is a track that came out of deep felt emotion. More and more people around me were speaking of crumbling under the the turbulence and hardships of their relationships. Trapped and confused on what on the surface seemed purely toxic but through deeper analysis became something far more complex.
“A tug of war between love and conflict. Through passionate rows in the heat of love, some find themselves lost to their emotions. Our ability to regulate is not something that we’re born with and in some cases it falls on a brave few to guide another whether it be lover, friend or stranger to understanding and patience.
“A journey mapped with obstacles and tribulations which no doubt strike fear and confusion into the hearts and minds of of these courageous individuals. A journey that doesn’t always pay off.
“Many won’t speak out about what they’ve been through, so it made sense to reach out to them through this track and recognise those who, on this day which is committed to love, struggle. I don’t want anyone to ever feel alone.
“I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve made here and am beyond grateful to be able to make a contribution to what the amazing people at Next Link are doing.”

The track reflects the conflict and tug-of-war element that can often crop up in intimate relationships
“In order to raise awareness this track won’t be out on spotify for some time, only bandcamp where you can make an optional donation of any amount or nothing at all. Every penny will go to Next Link.”
