Using music to challenge gender-based harassment in Bristol

By Sammy Jones  Thursday Sep 21, 2017

According to a study by Hollaback! and Cardiff University, 90 per cent of British women report their first experience of harassment before the age of 17.

Hack A Heckle is a social action campaign that uses music to challenge gender-based harassment in Bristol. The campaign is run by a collective of musicians, creatives and activists aged 18-25, with the support of Knowle West Media Centre’s Change Creators: XLR Collective leadership programme.

On Monday, September 25, from 6.30-8.30pm, the campaign invites attendees to hear more at an event at Knowle West Media Centre. It will feature live music, a presentation of Hack a Heckle’s findings so far, and details of their amazing seven-month journey on the Change Creators programme, which has taken them to Barcelona, seen them street campaigning, and linked them with Bristol Zero Tolerance, Safe Gigs For Women, Rife Magazine and more.
