Review: Fenne Lily, The Louisiana
As part of Independent Venue Week in Bristol, The Louisiana teamed up with local music community Chiverin to put on a whole host of artists.
Headliner Fenne Lily has made numerous appearances on the Bristol music scene over the last few years, having written her first song Top to Toe at the age of 15 and we can only expect more to come from her this year. Fenne brought a soulful and upbeat performance to a sold out crowd. She gave us a tease of her new album, which going by her performance will bring a peaceful sound with indie pop vibes, watch out London Grammar.
Other appearances on the night came from Dirty Nice, Only Girl and Oro Swimming hour. If electronica is your thing then you need to check out Dirty Nice, who were first on the lineup. They turned up again at the end of the evening with their very own D$J set. Only Girl brought R&B soul to a new level, with impressive vocals, followed by Oro Swimming Hour who put on an acoustic set. The diversity of acts on the night brought an array of genres to the mix.
We caught up with Fenne, ahead of the show and she told us all about what went into creating the upcoming album. Fenne has been spending the last few years writing and producing her own music, on average she has written 2 songs each year. She told us that her inspiration behind the album, came from when she felt like she was putting her life ‘on hold’ for previous relationships throughout the making of this album. Fenne spoke to The Bristol Music Show on BCFM Radio about the album in full detail as well as about her thoughts on Independent Venue Week.
