Review: Cleopatrick, Trinity – ‘No one left that venue the same way they came in’

By Ben Nicholls  Tuesday Mar 15, 2022

Picture this: It’s early in the evening and dozens upon dozens of fans wait outside one of Bristol’s most notorious venues for a sold-out show; anxious to see it rain down with sweat and complete carnage from the rising star rock duo, Cleopatrick.

From December 2020 when they released the first single off their debut album, to the arrival of the BUMMER tour, Cleopatrick songs cry out to be performed to an audience.

With support from Ready The Prince, the term ‘warm-up act’ would be taken as an understatement here. After their set alone, you were both tired and full of adrenaline knowing what was about to come.

And then, just like that. The room went black, the crowd began to cheer, lights began to flash and in the distance, two silhouettes emerged from the side of the stage. The band had arrived.

Full of energy and raring to go, they certainly took off when they arrived on stage; quite literally when band member Luke took a stage dive early on in the set that only drove the fans into a frenzy. With kick drums that would kick your heart out from its chest and screaming vocals enough to be heard in Bath, no one left that venue the same way they came in that night.

The band had performed their last song and afterwards left the stage to which fans began to scream and start chants demanding an encore. The word rumbled throughout the venue as fans were not ready to go home just yet. Their prayers were met, answered and beat when Cleopatrick came back to the stage, this time not alone. They brought Ready The Prince with them to perform something no one could ever predict. When rock music met Arctic Monkeys.

Leaving the venue was almost as if you had just landed back on earth after being in the continuous mosh pits and being carried across the crowds. Now it is time to put some ice on those bruises.

“The first time we played here was in a record shop, second time was on a boat, now we’re in a church. Not sure what that means but let’s roll with it.” – Luke Gruntz (Cleopatrick)
