Music shop reveals location of temporary home
A music shop that has been based on the same road for 122 years has revealed the location of its temporary space while its current site is redeveloped.
Mickleburgh began in the piano maintenance business in the 1870s and opened their first piano shop on Stokes Croft in 1903.
Their current home at 1-9 Stokes Croft is a purpose-built building which opened in 1957 but this will soon be demolished to make way for new premises which will see dozens of student flats on the upper floors.

While building work takes place, Mickleburgh will move into part of the ground floor of West End Car Park at the top of Jacob’s Wells Road.
The aim is to undertake the huge transfer of all of the stock in time for an opening date in November.

The temporary Mickleburgh will be neighbours on the ground floor of the car park with a St Peter’s Hospice shop.
Europcar most recently occupied the site which in years gone by was Cotham Garages.
In 2020, Rhubarb family play cafe was set to move in and still has signage in place, but the business never opened due to a combination of the pandemic and the car park needing major structural repairs.
