Another Oscar nomination for Aardman
Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon has been nominated for the best animated feature at the Oscars, becoming the latest Aardman film to receive the prestigious honour.
Farmageddon, directed by Richard Phelan and Will Becher, is the second film starring the character who made their first appearance in Wallace & Gromit short A Close Shave.
The story follows Shaun attempting to get Lu-La, an alien who has crashlanded near Mossy Bottom Farm, back to her home planet with an alien-hunting agency on their trail.
Writing on the Shaun the Sheep Facebook page, which has more than 5.5m followers, the Aardman team wrote: “Shaun, Lu-La and the Flock are over the moon that Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon has been nominated for Best Animated Feature at the #Oscars! Hooves crossed for the results on April 25th!”
Aardman was founded by childhood friends Peter Lord and David Sproxton in 1972 and has since won four Oscars.
An astronaut in Farmageddon is seen wearing a Blue Peter badge, with it coincidentally being 40 years since Blue Peter paid a visit to Aardman, who were then based in Hotwells.
