Latest BRAVA podcast tackles the role of voice in business
Founded by voice actor and communications specialist Melissa Thom, Bristol Academy of Voice Acting (BRAVA) has trained thousands of people in the art of using their voice, building their skills base in narration, commercial, or character.
To complement their range of courses and masterclasses, Thom has been talking to experts on both sides of the Atlantic for the BRAVA podcast High Notes, which has been running since the start of 2024.
Following a string of episodes focused around games and animation, High Notes is back for its third season, which will run until the end of 2025.
This time around, the chosen umbrella title for the season is Words at Work, and each week Thom and her guest will be delving into an aspect of the role of voice in business.
Featured professionals – from the worlds of business, culture and communication – include speechwriter Simon Lancaster on the persuasive language of leadership, writer and historian Jane Duffus on the voices of influential women, and BAFTA’s Colin Burgess on building legacy and nurturing new creative voices within the film, TV and entertainment landscape.
Later in the series, Thom will be joined by veteran BBC broadcaster and coach, Janey Lee Grace, author, entrepreneur and communications strategist Lynne Franks, and writer, business thinker and keynote speaker Margaret Heffernan.
“This season of High Notes is focused on how professionals can use their voice for impactful communication in the workplace and beyond”, says Thom.
“Our guests bring a wealth of experience from different sectors and creative disciplines – we hope our listeners will both be entertained and come away with actionable tips to supercharge communication confidence.”
