At the end of 2023, Thom launched the High Notes podcast, to provide insight into the business of VO to those interested in diving deeper into the art – giving a platform to a range of host of industry professionals along the way.
Highlights of the first collection of interviews included chats with Adele Cutting, a sound designer and voice director working in the video game sector; Daniel Jewel, audiobook director, as well as Lorien Haynes, a writer, artist and actor who spoke about her involvement in Shakespeare’s Women, which premiered in 2024 at The Globe.
The second season of the podcast began on June 30, and new episodes will be released weekly until early August, with a focus on gaming and animation.

Kate Hansen-Birnbaum joins Thom to reflect on her experiences working at Pixar; Merlin Crossingham talks all things Aardman, and Jessica Jefferies sits down to discuss casting for mo-cap (motion capture).
Also appearing in the podcast is Bob Bergen, the five-time Emmy-nominated actor who has provided the voice of Porky Pig for over three decades.
“This season we’ll be lifting the curtain to reveal the reality of working within gaming and animation”, Thom enthuses.
“Some key players in the business have shared their perspectives and experience to help the next generation of voice acting talent to break through.
“The voice acting world can seem like a mysterious closed shop, but the aim of High Notes is to demystify and remove barriers for those who would love to know more about this fascinating business.”
The third season of High Notes is set to follow later in 2025, with a focus on Voice for Business.
