Strange Brew to host Inklingroom x CONQUEER collaboration

By Sarski Anderson  Friday Feb 14, 2025

Inklingroom and CONQUEER have announced their collaboration, with an immersive club night at Strange Brew on February 28.

Funded by PRS Foundation, the event will blend electronic music, live art and contemporary dance performance: championing experimental and often overlooked art forms, queer club culture, and “shared joy of movement”, as well as creating a safe space to amplify self-expression.

Music on the night will come from Brazilian avant-garde vocalist and Mixmag’s ‘producer of the year’ 2024, DJ LYZZA, as well as Franco/Guadeloupean multidisciplinary A/V artist MOOKI6 from Barcelona’s Jokkoo Collective.

Always drawn to dark, dense and experimental frequencies and “the sounds of decentralised DNA”, Mooki6 fuses dancehall, drum ‘n’ bass and bouyon rhythms with trap, grime, punk and metal.

Also soundtracking the night will be lil replica, a UK-based music duo who make a new musical language from entirely self-made samples and sounds.

And Bristol-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Sarahsson joins the bill, with her collage of sounds “exploring the feminine, synaesthesia and blurring the lines between binaries”.

Heading up the live dance performances will be Scottish choreographer and Sadlers Wells Young Associate alumnus Magnus Westwell, with Caught, a hybrid piece “in which the body moves through emotional states to the point of catharsis”, moving through “overlapping, phased cycles of sound and movement, exploring themes of time, fragmentation and loss”.

Finally, performance artist, choreographer and curator Keity Pook – usually based between Bristol and Estonia – will be sharing a solo dance piece Sumi 008001, a kaleidoscopic creation “capturing the absurdities and hybridities in the post-internet age”.
