Fifth annual Heli Laughs comedy fundraiser announces a bumper lineup
The annual comedy night raising funds for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) is back at Bristol Old Vic on July 21.
Over the last four years, the night has seen audience numbers totalling 1,600 people being entertained by some of the brightest standup stars working in the UK, including Mike Wozniak, Nabil Abdulrashid and Catherine Bohart. In the process, they have raised over £52,000.
This year’s event is being held slightly earlier in the summer than usual, and tickets are already selling fast for an impressive bill headlined by comedy powerhouse and TV regular Angela Barnes (Mock the Week; Richard Osman’s House of Games; Stand Up for The Week), with Laura Lexx, Celya AB, Jin Hao Li and Jordan Brookes in support.

Returning to MC the evening will be comic and business speaker Stuart Goldsmith, (Live at The Apollo; The Comedian’s Comedian Podcast).
Working to provide critical care and air ambulance service for 2.1 million people across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Gloucestershire, parts of Wiltshire and beyond, GWAAC is funded entirely by the communities it serves.
It exists to provide emergency lifesaving treatment to the people who need it, where they need it: whether in their own home, at the side of the road or in a muddy field.

Requiring over £4 million annually in order to remain operational, GWAAC receives no day-to-day Government or National Lottery funding.
In 2024, its team of critical care doctors, advanced practitioners and specialist paramedics responded to 2,272 people in need of critical care; its busiest year yet. Each separate mission is thought to cost the charity approximately £2,200.
