Trinity Centre hosts book launch for former Pulp drummer Nick Banks
For many britpop fans, the summer of 2023 has led to a joyful and nostalgic reawakening, through multiple dates on Pulp’s celebrated reunion tour.
Drummer from the band, Nick Banks has written a memoir of his life, entitled So It Started There: From Punk to Pulp.
The book recounts his memories of 1980s Sheffield as a punk, then a goth; initially a fan and later a member of Pulp, fronted by the inimitable Jarvis Cocker.

Although the band first formed in 1978, Pulp found mainstream success as mainstays of the Britpop movement that swept the UK over 15 years later. They stayed together until 2002, reforming from 2011-2013 and then again from 2022 until the present day.
Reflecting on a career spanning multiple decades, on October 10 Banks will be at Trinity Centre in conversation with journalist and fan of the band, Duncan Steer – who has also hosted recent events with artists including Baxter Dury and Nick Lowe.
There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A after the discussion.
