New book offers retrospective on acclaimed Bristol artist Luke Jerram

By Anna Doherty  Tuesday May 28, 2019

Bristol artist Luke Jerram has created some of the most memorable moments across the city in recent years, from a water slide down Park Street to a replica of the Moon hanging within the Wills Memorial Building.

Jerram specialises in creating sculptures, installations and live art, with a new book collating his career-spanning artwork, Art, Science & Play, recently published by Sansom & Co.

The book combines art with science, encouraging the idea that “anything is possible” and taking readers through Jerram’s vivid imagination, exploring the world using influences from engineers, composers, glassblowers and more.

The book reflects on his last 30 pieces of artwork and projects, providing readers with an honest and detailed insight into the idea of invention and his continually expanding approach to art.

On Tuesday, May 28 at 6.30pm, Jerram will be giving a talk about the book and his career in the Arnolfini. For more information and to book free tickets to the talk, visit www.lukejerram.com/art-science-play-book
