East Bristol book club focuses on climate literature
Set up in January 2022 by Dr Sarah Robertson, who is associate head of English Literature at UWE Bristol, The Climate Literature Book Club is reaching its 4th birthday.
Meeting monthly at The Old Library on Muller Road, the idea behind the group was to address questions, alleviate isolation and confront climate anxiety within a supportive environment.
By normalising everyday discussions about the climate, Robertson’s hope was to reduce the level of dread for those accessing the club.
Every session is built around a particular book, with those already discussed in recent months being Abi Daré’s And So I Roar, and Samantha Harvey’s Booker Prize-winning Orbital.
The December group will focus on John Ironmonger’s The Wager and the Bear.
