Reddit users turn Bristol into Edward Hopper paintings using AI

By Mia Vines Booth  Tuesday Nov 15, 2022

Reddit users have transformed Bristol’s residential streets into Edward Hopper paintings using AI.

One user, whose Reddit name is ‘totterdownanian’ used the popular AI software Dall-E, to create the atmospheric images.

Bristol’s distinct hilly streets and glittering harbour are visible in the AI-generated works.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Edward Hopper was an American painter best known for his subdued and lonely oil art works of the urban landscape at night, often using commonplace subjects ‘layered with a poetic meaning’.

Another user also shared their AI-generated image of the Bristol Suspension Bridge in the style of the artist. The user used Stable Diffusion instead of Dall-E.
