Paper garden springs up in Bedminster

By Liam Mason  Friday May 13, 2016

Spring has arrived in Bedminster with thousands of handmade paper flowers arranged into a garden at Paper Village on North Street.

As part of the Southbank Arts Trial on May 14 and 15, Vicky Harrison, the owner of Paper Village, has corralled a team of 30 volunteers into cutting, sticking, folding and sewing a range of foliage including six-foot daffodils, squat little cacti and hundreds of cherry tree blossoms.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“I’ve always enjoyed being part of the arts trail, Vicky says. “It’s a lovely collaborative way to work.”

For the last six weeks, Vicky has been encouraging people from all backgrounds to get involved.

“I set it up to engage a wider audience of people in creative participative activities, and more beyond their expectations.”

You can find the paper flower garden at Paper Village on North Street until Thursday, with plans to hopefully showcase the garden elsewhere in Bristol in the autumn.

Between now and then however, Vicky might have one location in mind for the paper plants to be kept: “If I could just transplant it into the back garden. My grubby little yard would become this beautiful gorgeous garden.”

Welcome to the flower garden
