A new art installation has been unveiled at Wapping Wharf.

The piece by Karsten Huneck is made from weathered steel, intricately cut into patterns and illuminated with energy-efficient LED lights.

Karsten’s installation is the first in a series of permanent commissions for the area.

He said: “We wanted to create an artwork that was integrated into the architecture of the site. The entrance and staircase help to create a new public space and the exposed column in the space reminded us of an old Victorian theatre.

“This inspired us to create an intricate ceiling using a traditional Victorian pattern which is lit from above with LED lighting to create a stunning, illuminated piece.”

Stuart Hatton, director at Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, added: “I’m thrilled to see the new artwork now unveiled. It’s a striking visual piece that gives the new Wapping Wharf development a sense of individuality and a creative vibe.”
