Ginkgo Projects are producing commissions for Bristol artists Dorcas Casey, Andy King and RTiiiKA

By Sarski Anderson  Thursday Apr 30, 2026

Based in Axbridge, independent public art and cultural producers Ginkgo Projects are helping to develop a number of new works in and around Bristol, south Wales and the south west.

Their current long-term strategy work includes cultural programming as part of a regeneration plan for Caerphilly – supporting their bid to become the UK’s first-ever Town of Culture.

Amongst the public art commissions they are currently producing is a roe deer sculpture from multidisciplinary artist Dorcas Casey, whose ‘Bristol crocodile’ and family sculptures were unveiled at The Welcome Building, Temple Quarter in 2025.

Casey’s deer is being created for The Guinness Partnership, and will be silhouetted high up against the sky, above the gateway of a new residential development on Trinity Road. It is created from textiles and clay, and then cast in bronze at the Castle Fine Arts Foundry.

Over at Kingfisher Court, a new student housing development in Frenchay, engineer-turned artist and furniture maker Andy King has been making sculptural works to “celebrate the natural beauty and potential of British-grown wood”.

The making of Andy King’s ‘urban treescape’ for Kingfisher Court.

Using a mix of oak, sweet chestnut, western red cedar, larch and Douglas fir, he has built “an urban treescape” bearing surface patterns developed from the unique bark textures of each tree.

“The invitation to visitors is simple: to walk and sit amongst the trees, study the bark patterns, and leave with a greater appreciation of both the natural beauty of timber and the living woodlands from which it originates.”

Andy King created surface patterns on the timber, developed from the unique bark on each tree.

In the city centre, visual artist Rosa ter Kuile – aka RTiiiKA – is developing an artwork to enhance the new public walkway at Avon Street, informed by the series of railway arches and the flow of the nearby river.

“RTiiiKA’s concept responds directly to these architectural and environmental features, using the arches, water and shifting perspectives to guide people through the space”, say Ginkgo in their explanatory notes to the project.

“The artwork creates moments of discovery, revealing what is usually unseen and encouraging exploration through movement, pause and changing viewpoints.

“Designed to be experienced from either direction, the work allows each journey to begin, pause or end at any point, reflecting the flow of past, present and future embedded within the site.”
